OK it is finished up clamped on the amp meter and even with totally grey skies it is pulling down 2.33 amps of charge into the controller and into the batteries to be used later ...
A perfect box for this is a fully waterproof truck box that you can purchase already to go and has locks and what else would you need ... can not build one this perfect for the cost .. I already had this one and decided to recycle it into this unit since I am not using it .
Its that time, put in the solar controller and inverter assy .. these came with the panels as a full kit from Grape Solar here in Eugene Oregon ..... I then assembled and put the batteries in the box and hooked it all up ...... Not hard to do just a bit time consuming .....

Got it all assembled and playing with the tip .. fully adjustable tip to find the best light from wherever you are ....
I have had this in mind for quite awhile and of course since I have some time I wanted to finish it up ..
I was working on a completely portable system for a large home and lost it in the business Fire .....
So I wanted one for my home since I live in the country and we have some power outages now and again and there is a local solar company that put out a small kit so I purchased it and went to work with my dad on building a completely portable system that I could break down and reassemble anywhere in less then 30 minutes ... well I finished it up yesterday and it is even in our totally grey skies putting charge into the pack I installed in it ............
there is room in it for a lot more batteries so it is pretty much how much power you need in reserve
and having it be able to charge every day just setting it can keep the pack full and ready for any time
you need some power ... and free is really great .......
I can run the entire shop of Lighting due to the fact I just finished installing some LED energy saving Lights ... they draw .30 amps per hour each I have 10 of them in the shop ... so I only need 3 amps of power per hour to run them and this system I put together will run 16.6 amps per hour continuous .....
I have currently put in 800 amps at 12V = to 200 amps of storage at 120V so I can run them a long time even if we have some bad weather ..........
It has capabilities of 3 times the cells I have installed ... right now it is 32 of the 100ah calb cells put together into 8 of the 12V modules .....
Well finished up here it is ...................
I laid out the batteries all in parallel and hooked them together to set for at least 48 hours to equalize the cells and get them ready to assemble and put in the box ..
Needed a base and wanted it to be portable so wheels are a must ... since it is built out of recycled materials I took it down and cleaned it up and painted the frame with primer and paint one coat no rust paint and reassembled the unit ....
Rolled it out into the grey skies to test it and everything is running great and it is ready to go ...
While I waited for the paint to dry I assembled the 4 panels together and added some bracing for it to be a bit more ridged since it will be overhead ...
That's it all put together and running .. I will use the heck out of it since I like to work in the shop and I hate paying for electricity when it can be free .
