Add a custom J1772 system behind the original charging door and wire it in and you have a great new charging system.....

Custom made plates to hold the original boxes over top of new charger and bottom plate to bolt the charger to and down to original 4 bolts ...

set it in and start wiring it up as per the wiring diagram and add some relays ...  you can mount the relays wherever you want I put them in the front but you don't have to ...  we want to also wire into the power steering pump a control relay and a relay under dash and a pilot wire relay everything controlled by either the door switch or the AVC2 unit added with the J1772 assy .....

add a couple of little brackets to move the ac unit over an inch to get more space to install the charger .... bend the tang back flush ..  last picture shows everything ready to put in ...

Remove the metal cover .....

Last thing is to add that relay to the dash ...

here is a quick run through of how I add one to it ..

I am sure you could probably trace a bunch of wires and find another place to put it but there is already some relays in the dash so I thought pretty good place to go ahead and just add another one in the same place ...

Wired up with my quick Crude wiring Schematic and ready to charge everything and have the security to not drive away with it plugged into the vehicle .....

everything ready to charge .....

add a door switch to the J1772 assy.  and you are ready to control everything .....

Here we are the original charger getting ready to come out ... remove it by removing the bolts that hold the units on top, unplug everything and remove the 4 bolts holding it down , lift it out of the way and get ready to install ...

However you do it ... drop the pack and open it up to get to the contactor box assy. and the BCM ...

connect up the BCM and your BMS wires to control the charger relay or the pilot wire up top.. I personally use the wires from bcm #11 and #12 I cut them off the BCM connector and wire it to the BMS charger overvoltage relay to control the charger when the cells are full shut down the charger ...  I pull the power off the BCM I tap into the ground and 12V+ power wires .....

I am upgrading the onboard charger to a charger that will charge at 110V or 220V for versatility and of course price .....  also adding a J1772 charging system to be able to use all the new charging stations no matter what the voltage is ....

ElCon Charger Upgrade

Installed and connected and ready to get back to replacing the batteries .....

almost forgot ... make a adapter for the original truck plug to a Anderson for the charger .....

everything ready to charge .....

I move the main white wire from one side of aux. common connector to the other to open up a charging input for my new charger ..  I also remove the charging relay and bypass it so I have a good solid input for charging ....  once I am in there and I have this done and the BMS wiring done I close it up put

the pack back in and go under the hood ...
